Sivasspor match review
By: j | September 26th, 2008The heartbreak of Fenerbahçe’s Süper Lig season continued with a 2-1 loss to Sivasspor. With only six points in five matches, the Yellow Canaries have squandered many important matches that will come back to haunt them.
Selçuk Şahin headed in Alex’s corner at the thirty-fourth minute to give them the 1-0 lead and with Fenerbahçe directing the match, the match appeared to be heading in a positive direction for them. While they had numerous opportunities to close out the match, they let Sivasspor off the hook. As these situations often happen, they paid for it dearly. Showing a complete inability to control a match when in the lead, Sivasspor drew the match level when Murat Sözgelmez headed in corner with thirteen minutes left in the match. Then with only two minutes left in the match, Sezer Badur struck the winning goal and gave Fenerbahçe their third defeat of the campaign.
The Yellow Canaries must rebound as they face Dynamo Kyiv in their second Champions League match onTuesday Şükrü Saracoğlu.
