Republic Cup Champion: Sivasspor 0-3 Fenerbahçe

Fenerbahçe lead to 3-0 win over Sivasspor on Republic Cup at Sivas 4 Eylül Stadium during internaitonal break in Spor Toto Turkish Super League. It’s a very “meaningful cup” to honour and to show gratitude to  Turkish Great Leader Atatürk and one of Turkey’s most important city Sivas, cause the foundations of the modern Turkish Republic were laid in the Sivas Congress assembled on 4 September 1919, during the presidency of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

As expected Aykut Kocaman continued with a broad 4-4-1-1 system, with Hasan Erbey was on right back, Gökay Iravul was on the left, Mehmet Topuz was on the middle, so Okan Alkan moved to the right. Bilica’s header on 32 minutes, Gökan Ünal’s nice place shot on 50 minutes and Recep Berk Elitez’s ending goal on 75 minutes sealed the cup for Yellow Canaries.

Despite the lack of international players, fans satisfied with team performance especially many of reserve players like Gökay Iravul, Okan Alkan, Hasan Erbey, Recep Berk Elitez showed some modern football skills. Friendly games are necesarry to keep young players fresh. First team experience can positively affect the development of the homegrown&loyal players. According to recent club structure of Fenerbahçe, we really need to give them more chances into the first eleven. That’s the way how management doesn’t spend millions for nothing and carry team spirit realive same as Barcelona’s “La Masia”s model! So then challenge for the title and European cups can be logical.. As everybody says “The key is to play”.

In addition new transfer Serkan Kırıntılı made a good debut as a goalkeeper. He feel full of confidence and no pressure. His participation will provide competition for being first choice keeper alongside Turkey National Team’s first goalkeeper Volkan Demirel and talented goalkeeper Mert Günok. This is a great advantage to keep a domestic safe hand for next years.

Fenerbahçe will face a away match with Kayserispor on Saturday 11th September for Spor Toto Turkish Super League match.
