Porto visits Sükrü Saraçoglu

It is a do-or-die scenario for the Yellow Canaries as Porto visits Sükrü Saraçoglu in the Champions League. Luis Aragonés knows home support is crucial to overcome the Portuguese giants:
“Porto are powerful opponents and we must respect them as we do all teams, but the thing we must do is win this match. We have no other thoughts than this. We will take advantage of playing at our own stadium, in front of our deeply passionate fans. My players are more determined when they have the support of the fans. Of course I would like Porto to underperform. From the moment we enter the pitch, we’ll look for a goal.”
In a hint of wide-open attacking match Porto boss Jesualdo Ferreira said:
“It’s crucial to play attacking football. Unless you play this way, it isn’t easy to score goals. But using just one strategy will not bring guaranteed success. Therefore I have a flexible game plan. We have different strategies for different situations.”
Porto will be without Romanian international Cristian Săpunaru to injury and Lucho González who is suspended. The Yellow Canaries will be hampered without the services of Selçuk Şahin and Diego Lugano, both in the sin-bin. Robert Carlos and Semih Şentürk are both limping into the match and while not one-hundred per-cent.
To be successful Fenerbahçe must harness the same resolve that was visible during the recent Galatasaray victory. Unquestionably to do so it will come down to the twelfth man of Sükrü Saraçoglu.
I will report on the match as it concludes.
