One last chance against Dynamo Kyiv
By: j | December 10th, 2008Fenerbahçe chances to advance to the UEFA Cup and join Galatasaray rely upon a victory over Yuri Semin’s Dynamo Kyiv this evening. The task will not be easy to say the least as Kyiv’s home will be a fortress and their fans will be out with highly vocal support in the chill of Ukraine evening. Match time temperatures are expected to be well-below zero although pitch conditions will be more than acceptable and no excuse.
Yuri Semin will be without Badr El Kaddouri to injury as well as Olexandr Aliyev who is in the sin-bin. Luis Aragonés efforts will be challenged without the services of Burak Yılmaz, Kâzım Kâzım, Emre Belözoğlu and Semih Şentürk. These absences will definitely compromise the Yellow Canary efforts but they will need to be highly aggressive and go for the jugular.
Yuri Semin has urged his forces to show “balance and patience”, knowing full well that a draw will see them threw to the UEFA Cup and join fellow Ukraine sides Shakhtar Donetsk and Metalist Kharkiv. Mr. Semin, the legendary leader of Lokomotiv Moscow said:
“I have a positive feeling after the five games. I feel we’re a real team now because the players have gained huge experience and the squad is balanced. Yes, we made some mistakes for which we were harshly punished, but that is experience too. We played top European teams and world-class stars and looked decent against them. For us, the most important things against Fenerbahçe will be balance and patience.”
I will report on the match as it concludes.

Utku – I’m not sure but that was a horrible performance and insulting waste of time.

I watched this match up until the 80th minute when I just couldn’t take anymore. It’s very disappointing to see a Turkish team that was so inspiring last year to crash like that this year.
That joke Maldonado needs to be shipped away and forgotten. Not only does he play such terrible football, the red card he saw at the end was the cherry on his pie.
Looks like we’re gonna be all alone next year in Europe. Too bad.
