Kocaelispor match preview
By: j | October 16th, 2008With Luis Aragonés under fire, the international break came at a favourable time for Fenerbahçe. It was hopefully a good time to re-build and slow the contagion of defeat as they go forward with a match against bottom of the table Kocaelispor
Fenerbahçe’s injury situation has improved slightly with Semih Şentürk likely available however Emre Belözoğlu and Gökhan Gönül are both out and unlikely out for the next three matches including Tuesday’s Champions League when Arsenal visits Şükrü Saracoğlu. While fitness for Semih Şentürk is definitely not optimal, given the stakes at hand and the need for a victory I expect him to be paired with Daniel Güiza up-front and Alex in support. Kâzım Kâzım’s versatility, if not overall brilliant play, is likely to see him penciled in the wings with Uğur Boral taking Emre Belözoğlu vacant spot.
Kocaelispor is simply having a dreadful season, with their only point in the opening week draw against Gençlerbirliği. While they have had trouble defending, veteran Serdar Topraktepe can still find the back of the net. Crvena Zvezda alumni Dušan Anđelković and Đorđe Tutorić anchor a defense that has had problems this year to-date but does have promise. Fenerbahçe cannot take them lightly or they have the ability to steal points in front of their home fans.
I will report on the match as it concludes.
