Fenerbahçe no match for 10 man İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor
By: j | February 8th, 2009
Of the many key moments in Fenerbahçe’s season, this might be the most telling as they lost 2-0 to İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, who played a man down for half of the match.
Highlights are few and far between for the Yellow Canaries and this is a tale of a story of team with heart, who fights and prods with everything they have to overcome a superiour opponent. Abdullah Avcı’s club brought the home fans to the feet only five minutes into the match as İskender Alın made his way around Volkan Demirel before dispatching the ball into the net. Fenerbahçe’s dowdy play continued but were gifted an a man advantage as one minute prior to the break Mahmut Tekdemir drew his second yellow.
With nary an attacking threat to mention just before the hour mark Luis Aragonés called upon Kâzım Kâzım, who once again was not in the starting eleven. However Fenerbahçe’s work rate was deplorably low and with ten minutes remaining Razundara Tjikuzu added the insurance goal to bring the match to its final 2-0 score.

It really was a pitiful performance. Aragones has to go, but more importantly, a good replacement needs to be found to take his place.
