Fenerbahçe beat Bursaspor 1-0 in Türkiye Kupası

By: j | January 28th, 2009

Fenerbahçe advanced in the Türkiye Kupası with a 1-0 victory over Bursaspor at Şükrü SaracoÄŸlu. ErtuÄŸrul SaÄŸlam’s side put forth a strong defending stance and effectively cut advancing efforts by the Yellow Canaries before they threatened. With the modestly played match looking to be heading to the break scoreless Fenerbahçe scored the lone goal when Gökçek Vederson’s corner was nodded in by Deivid de Souza a minute before the break. The visiting side attempted to level the match after the break and although Fenerbahçe was toothless and apparently satisfied with a single goal, finishing was less than optimal and the match ended with a 1-0 victory. Of particular note was the debut of Gökhan Emreciksin who recently came over from Ankaragücü, as he entered the match for Kâzım Kâzım with nineteen minutes remaining. The second leg of the home and home series takes place next Thursday in Bursa.
