Fenerbahçe advances in Türkiye Kupası
By: j | October 30th, 2008
Fenerbahçe advanced in the Türkiye Kupası (”Fortis Türkiye Kupası”) defeating MKE Ankaragücü 1-0 on the strength of Semih Şentürk’s goal six minutes into the match. The Yellow Canaries have been able to hoist the Cup four times, most recently in 1983 and lost a heartbreaking final to Beşiktaş J.K. three years ago. With critical Süper Lig match against Eskişehirspor ahead this weekend, Luis Aragonés fortified his lineup with bench strength and tactically looked to “get through” this match safely, which they did. The only draw-back to the match was Kâzım Kâzım’s red-card with eighteen minutes remaining for which he’ll miss the next Cup match.
