Fenerbahçe continued its good form over Sivasspor, winning 3-1 in the Türkiye Kupası at Şükrü SaracoÄŸlu. After a well contained opening, the Yellow Canaries missed a golden chance to take the lead as Alex’s free kick struck the bar and came to Deniz Barış but the Turkish international sent the close range effort over the bar. Late efforts by Sivasspor should have given the visitors the lead but finishing was off-course, none worse than Mehmet Yıldız’s easy close that completely whiffed.
Eleven minutes after the break Luis Aragonés called upon Daniel Güiza and Edu Dracena for UÄŸur Boral and Önder Turacı respectively and the impact. Ten minutes later Deniz Barış accepted Deivid’s provision and powered the ball in from outside the box, giving the Yellow Canaries a 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later the lead was doubled as Alex’s in-swinging corner was sent near by Daniel Güiza, with Edu Dracena closing the ball out. However with eight minutes remaining Sivasspor brought the match within one as veteran (Fábio) Bilica nailed a free kick into the netting. Two minutes later Fenerbahçe sealed with win with Daniel Güiza and Deivid playing a slick one-two resulting in the Brazilian dispatching the ball into the net, bringing the match to a final 3-1 score.
