Dynamo Kyiv Champions League match preview
By: j | September 29th, 2008It might be a bold statement but based upon Fenerbahçe’s recent play, the balance of this match could very well land in the support of Şükrü Saracoğlu. The Yellow Canaries season has been one stumbling disappointment after another. A superb club on paper that doesn’t seem to be playing as a team and finds a way to somehow lose.
Returning to the confines of Şükrü Saracoğlu is precisely what Luis Aragonés’ squad needs and within the late evening crowd, home crowd support must push Fenerbahçe to victory. However while it is noted that they haven’t lost in the European competitions in fourteen previous matches at home, they must unlock the team play that has alluded them in domestic play this season or that record will fall.
Dynamo Kyiv is coming off superb play this weekend but are without Ayila Yussuf and Artem Milevskiy for the match. They will likely employ Ismaël Bangoura as the lone striker and attempt capitalize on the defensive liabilities that the home squad has been plagued with during the Süper Lig season. Ukraine international Oleksandr Aliyev is coming off a brilliant match over the weekend and along with Ognjen Vukojević, form an outstanding midfield that will attack with flourish and defend with intent.
The Fenerbahçe infirmary is still packed at Luis Aragonés is waiting match-time fitness tests to see whether he’ll have the services of Edu Dracena, Josico, Semih Şentürk and Alex. The magnitude of these possible changes is impossible to trivialize as it could change the entire tactical plan. However as it has been throughout the year, key to the Yellow Canaries success is the intense play of Kâzım Kâzım and breaking Daniel Güiza free to score. This is very possibly a “make or break” match for Fenerbahçe in not only their Champions Leagues efforts but getting their year back on track.
I will report on it as it concludes.
